Scorers 1st CEO & NBA/FIBA Representative, Gerrit Kersten-Thiele, was recently a guest contributor to the Sports Agent Blog, where he shares his thoughts on the role "patience" plays in the daily business of basketball...
"With most pro basketball leagues in Europe starting this weekend after weeks of training camp and NBA teams heading into training camp this week, now is the time of the year that most players know where they will live from September to about May — or however long their respective season will be. Excitement for the “real” games and the competition builds daily. That’s the bright side of this business, when the contracts are signed and the season gets going.
Brandyn Curry and his blog are back. After a successful rookie season playing (and writing) in Holland, where the former Harvard University standout guard was an All-Star, won the Dutch Basketball League championship and was named Finals MVP with Den Bosch, Curry now calls Germany's BEKO BBL home this season with Eisbären Bremerhaven and will continue to share his thoughts on playing professional basketball abroad with his blog, "3 Things I Learned This Week Playing Overseas"...
My Daily Activities Are Dedicated To Improving As A Basketball Player
I have always felt like basketball was more than just some hobby I liked to participate in. I know it's now an over-used phrase and there are countless "memes" that use it as humor but to me BALL REALLY IS LIFE for me. It took me turning pro to really realize that. Getting paid to play now seriously hasn't changed much for me, except it's made me want to work harder at my craft. For the last three years, since my year I had to take off from Harvard, my days have been completely dedicated to me improving myself for the game. Watching highlights of other players, getting extra work in, reading sports psychology books/articles and taking care of my body have become my daily routines -- so much so that I do not feel right on days I do not do these things. When I'm on vacations I'm already thinking about how my workout schedule is going to be like after it's over. Heck, I'm already looking forward to getting after it again this summer! I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of being a player especially the preparation.

Every year thousands of former college basketball players venture overseas to play professional basketball in hopes of competing at the highest level and growing their game to the next level -- former Valparaiso University guard Erik Buggs is one of those guys. After two seasons playing in Switzerland, Buggs will spend the 2015-16 season with U. Catolatica in Santiago, Chile, where he'll take you inside his life on and off of the court in pro basketball...
I have been in Santiago, Chile for over a week now and have practiced with the team since I landed, have met my other teammate from the States, Jordan Clarke, who arrived late last week and now it's just about getting accustomed to the lifestyle and everything because this is way different than my last two seasons in Europe.
Even with my first blog post on the season, let's rewind for a bit before telling you how things are here to the adventure it was getting over here. As many of you know traveling can be a hassle especially when you have connecting flights. Combining a tad bit of ugly weather into the mix could spell for a long and frustrating trip.
