In this Scorers 1st series, we will be meeting the new additions to our agency who have joined after finishing their respective college careers and as they prepare to make the jump from campus to the pros.
In just two seasons after transferring from Pensacola State College, Antoine Myers made his presence felt on both ends of the floor for Troy University.
The 6-foot-3 guard finished second on the team in scoring (12.1 per game), rebounding (5.4 per game) and assists (2.6 per game) and was one of the programs lock-down defenders, as Myers recorded two or more steals in seven games on the season (31 games) and posted season highs of 21 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals in 2013-14...
Give us the scouting report on Antoine Myers. How would you best describe yourself as a player?
The best way to describe myself as a player is just simply a hard worker and willing to do anything to win. I feel like I can do whatever it takes, whether it’s getting my teammates open shots, scoring or guarding the opponent’s toughest player. As far as offense I’m a combo guard I’m able to play both positions because of my size and strength. I’m very comfortable with having the ball in my hands a lot and making the right decision when I have to. Transition and the ball screen offense is when I’m at my best and a tough guard for anyone. We ran a lot of ball screens for are offense at Troy so it allowed me to show off my ability to create. The transition part showed what I can do individually as a player to create for myself and others.
Looking back on your college career at Troy, what do you appreciate the most about that experience?
I appreciated that I was able to grow as a person and player. There were things that I couldn’t have learned anywhere else without my teammates and the people around campus. I appreciate the support from all the people who came out and supported and that made my experience at Troy even better.
