For rookie free agent Mitchel Anderson, the process of becoming a professional basketball player has been a learning experience.
The 6-foot-5 swingman who captured two Division II NCAA championship titles and earned All-American honors has learned that patience and staying ready is all of a part of being a pro. After making an impact at the Scorers 1st Showcase in Las Vegas last July, Anderson has continued his training regiment and remained dedicated to finding the right opportunity overseas.
Mitchel Anderson recently took time to talk about his workout routine, personal goals toward his pro career and leaning heavily on words of encouragement:
Can you explain what your current training schedule entails -- what you go through daily/weekly in order to develop your game?
I workout in the weight room about 5 to 6 days a week, on various body parts. I also do plyometrics twice a week to work on my jumping ability and quickness. Along with that, I run about 2 to 3 miles on the treadmill everyday I'm at the gym. As far as basketball skills I get in the gym four times a week and while I'm there I work on ball handling, shooting both stationary and of the dribble, finishing at the basket, and some simple post moves.
What do you feel is your strongest attribute you can bring to a team?
The strongest attribute I can bring to a team is probably my shooting and ability to space the floor but also not being one dimensional and limited to just shooting and being able to finish at the rim. Another strong attribute I have is my feel for the game and being able to let the game come to me instead of forcing the issue.
