What's up everybody! As always I hope this posts finds everyone reading this well.
So just to get right into it. I am 24 hours removed from just hitting definitely the biggest shot of my basketball career thus far: a game-tying three to send our Game 7 against Landstede Zwolle into overtime. While it's still fresh in my memory here is how playoffs in Holland and "The Shot" went down.
After a two week break thanks to a First Round bye, we started the Semifinals Best of 7 series against Zwolle. They completely outplayed us the first three games of the series but fortunately we were able to get one victory and found ourselves down 2-1. We responded and won the next two games but then lost Game 6 which meant a Game 7 was in order.
I had our first 11 points in Sunday's game but they also came out hot and we found ourselves down after the first quarter. We took control after all the way up 'till the 4th quarter. Up by 13 to start, they went on a 22-9 run to tie the game with under two minutes left to play. Zwolle had momentum and used it to get a three-point advantage wit 7.8 seconds left.
And then "The Shot" happened.

Right before our final play, I had just re-injured my ankle that has been bothering me the whole playoffs. Coach (Sam) Jones asked if I was ok and then said, "just be ready to knock this three down".
He drew up a play where our shooting guard Chris Denson would bring the ball up and I would come off the screen to get a shot. I got a tough look and missed it. My natural reaction that I formed in college was to drift to corners on offensive rebounds so the rebounder could have a chance to see you.
When I missed the first attempt our captain, Kees Akerboom, tried to tip the ball in. Fortunately he missed it and got his own rebound. As he came down with the ball I yelled his name and he whipped me the ball in the corner. Without any thought or hesitation I let it fly......
"BANG" (Mike Breen voice), it went in as time expired.
We were going to OT. We had been given life. My teammates swarmed me and the crowd went nuts. I honestly couldn't believe what just happened and didn't even know how to react. I just left my follow through up and stared into the crowd.
We ran away with the game in OT and went on to win Game 7 87-77. It is for the sure the most important shot I've ever hit and it's the kind you dream of as kid growing up in the backyard. Craziest moment I will never forget. There is no time to celebrate though as we now face Groningen in another Best of 7 series for the title starting on Tuesday -- there is no other team I would rather beat for the championship.
The fun has just started.
I live for these moments.
