Kolbrún is one of Iceland’s most promising young basketball players. She plays as a guard/forward for Stjarnan in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. After starting her career with KFÍ and progressing through Stjarnan’s youth system, and later joined the senior team in 2022-24. Kolbrún quickly made headlines, becoming the youngest player to score 31 points in a league game. She was named Young Player of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.
Internationally, Kolbrún has excelled with Iceland’s youth national teams. She starred at the 2023 FIBA U16 European Championship (Division B), averaging 13.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and earning All-Star Five honors. In 2024, she joined the U18 team and posted standout performances, including a double-double average. She made her senior national team debut in November 2024 against Romania, starting the game and scoring 10 points. Known for her versatile skill set, scoring ability, and maturity.
