Joey played college basketball at Fordham University during the 2017–2018 season, where she started 33 of 34 games.
After college, she returned to Germany and played professionally for BC Pharmaserv Marburg, Eigner Angels Nördlingen, Rutronik Stars Keltern, and GiroLive Panthers Osnabrück.
Klug has had an extensive career with Germany's national teams. She began with the U16 team in 2013 and won gold at the 2014 FIBA U16 Women's European Championship Division B. She continued with the U18 team in 2015 and 2016, and the U20 team in 2016, 2017, and 2018, winning gold at the 2017 FIBA U20 Women's European Championship Division B. In 2018, she averaged 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship. Klug made her senior national team debut in June 2019.
